Blog : How to depalletise bags safely

Bag Depalletising

Depalletising can be a challenge for your manual workforce.

Physical fatigue from working with heavy or unstable loads can cause stress and injuries. Difficult ergonomics and exposure to product and dust further increase workplace health and safety risk.

Ultimately, the manual unloading of bags from pallets can impact on productivity.

Robotic depalletising is a safer, more consistent way to unload bags from pallets. A Foodmach pick & place automatic bag depalletiser is a reliable and cost-effective solution.

How it works

Foodmach Bag Depalletising Systems use an advanced in-house developed vision system, featuring cutting-edge vision technologies to ensure non-uniform bagged products are handled accurately and consistently.

Bags are picked from the pallet by the robotic arm using end-of-arm-tools adapted to the specific product. It is then placed onto a conveyor for delivery to the downstream processing equipment.

Each bag palletiser is optimised by Foodmach’s in-house software engineers to operate under the customers’ specific site conditions.

Variations in incoming pallet states (for example, bag overlap) and lighting levels are handled by tailoring the gripper, robot logic and vision technology.

The Foodmach Depalletiser Range can be upgraded over time as needs change and enhanced with pallet conveyors and /or stackers, scale weighing systems and product tracking.

Why choose a Foodmach Bag Depalletiser?

Robotic automation, in general, improves productivity, product quality and safety. A robot depalletiser replaces manual processes for pallet unloading without interruptions for breaks, shift change, or meals. It can operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in a wide variety of hazardous conditions

However, it takes more than a robot to make a first-class bag depalletiser.

A robot is only as effective as the engineering design and manufacturing of the supporting equipment around it, and the programming and integration of the depalletiser itself.
