Currently positions available:


We are currently looking for an experienced electrician to join our team.

The role would include the building of MCCs, integration with equipment and machines, wiring of field devices, I/O testing and commissioning support in our facility. Following successful factory testing, the equipment would be stripped, packed and transported before being installed and commissioned at our customer's site.

Foodmach delivers and installs equipment across Australia, so there will be some requirements to travel to and from jobs and work away from home for up to a couple of weeks at a time. 

The successful applicant will have:

  • An Electrical A Grade Licence with industrial experience in machine building or similar installations
  • Knowledge and understanding of PLC Control systems, VSDs and safety control systems (programming skills not essential).
  • Skills in reading, interpreting and marking up electrical schematics. (Experience with Eplan would be an advantage but not essential.)
  • The ability to work alongside mechanical and software teams to achieve a common goal
  • A willingness to learn and develop their skills
  • A strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills

The successful applicant would be expected to help support the less experienced members of the team, and show good leadership qualities both in the workshop and on customer sites.

The following licences would be beneficial:

  • EWP
  • Forklift

Senior Mechanical Design Specialist – End of Line Packaging Machinery

Foodmach seeks a full time senior mechanical design engineer.

The successful applicant will have an in-depth understanding of and experience with design for manufacturing and assembly using 3D/PDM/ERP.
You will also convert customer proposals and user requirement specifications into reliable mechanical designs within budget.

You will exercise your creativity and determination everyday as you develop automated machinery, place them through rigorous analysis and release them for manufacturing when they meet or exceed our specifications for product quality and safety.

As an EOL design specialist, you will mentor the team of design engineers, assist in the implementation of design standards and lead R&D initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Study customer proposals and user requirement specifications and develop designs for our products based on the specifications
  • Design products using CAD solid modelling and consult with engineering and manufacturing teammates to ensure that designs are feasible
  • Develop 3D solid models and run tests to measure their level of function including FEA
  • Carry out all required engineering calculations including drive sizing and chain calculations.
  • Record and evaluate testing data, altering designs as necessary to bring them to required safety, performance and efficiency standards
  • Consult with fabrication/assembly teams during product manufacturing, advising them on design specifications and providing physical assistance when required
  • Research competitor products quarterly and collaborate with product development team to generate ideas for making our products the best on the market
  • Attend weekly team meetings to provide progress reports, obtain updates on colleagues’ progress, strategise on steps for following week and acquire information about projected emerging product lines

Job Skills & Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in the use of interconnected 3D Design, PDM and ERP from different software suppliers in an Engineered To Order business. Ideally gained through a ‘greenfield’ implementation or major upgrade to older existing systems.
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Masters degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years’ experience designing automated end of line packaging machinery using solid modelling including mechanical and pneumatic systems and interfacing with motion, control and electrical design.
  • Investigative mind inclined toward developing practical solutions to real-world problems
  • Proficiency with CAD, Autodesk Inventor (or Solidworks or Creo) and Microsoft Office
  • Experience working with a Product Data Management System
  • Thorough understanding of designing for manufacturing and assembly and creating manufacturing bills of materials for export to an ERP system
  • Thorough understanding of ISO design standards
  • Demonstrated R&D capability.

The role is based at our Echuca factory in regional Victoria.
