Head of Service and Business Development

Location: VIC

We're looking for an inspiring leader to accelerate the development of the Foodmach Service and Spare Parts division.

Your goal will be to lead and enhance our service and spare parts delivery, driving substantial growth in both revenue and margins to align with Foodmach's five-year strategic plan.

This will be achieved through developing a highly trained, customer-centric team focused on delivering exceptional service.

Key Position Accountabilities:

  1. Team Leadership:
    a. Manage and mentor the service and spare parts team, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.
    b. Ensure regular performance reviews are undertaken and facilitate training programs to ensure team competency.

  2. Customer Relationship Management:
    a. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction, retention, and opportunities for upselling services.

  3. Service Operations:
    a. Oversee the operations of the Service department, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery.
    b. Develop and implement service strategies to improve response times and service quality.

  4. Spare parts:
    a. Manage the spare parts function to provide customers with a compelling value proposition to continue spare parts purchases from Foodmach.
    b. Drive spares revenue and margin as part of Foodmach’s overall service offering.

  5. Technical Expertise:
    a. Ensure Foodmach can provide technical support and troubleshooting for OEM packaging equipment, both on-site and remotely.
    b. Stay updated on industry trends, equipment advancements, and best practices to enhance service offerings.
    c. Maintain and build technical expertise in our Agency products and, where appropriate, Partner equipment.

  6. Business Development:
    a. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts and new clients to drive sales growth for Service and Spares offerings.
    b. Collaborate with the Sales team to develop strategies for service contracts and maintenance agreements.
    c. Work with Sales to ensure spares are offered in new projects with appropriate value propositions.

  7. Process Improvement:
    a. Analyse Service and Spares processes and identify areas for improvement, implementing best practices to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.
    b. Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure department performance.

  8. Budget Management:
    a. Develop and manage the services and spares department budget.
    b. Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving initiatives as necessary.

  9. Collaboration:
    a. Work closely with Sales, Engineering, and Production teams to ensure alignment on customer needs and service capabilities.
    b. Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide input on product improvements and customer feedback.


Key Performance Indicators:

  • Revenue and margin vs budget
  • Customer satisfaction ratings
  • Labour utilisation vs budget
  • Service response times
  • Backlog.

Key Skills & Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of packaging equipment, including operational and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to inspire, lead, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and ability to resolve issues effectively.
  • Proficiency in analysing data and using it to drive performance improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with customers and team members.

Critical Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or suitable trade qualification.
  • A blend of mechanical and electrical experience
  • 10+ years of experience in a service management role, preferably in the packaging or manufacturing industry.
  • Proven experience in business development and sales growth, with a focus on service offerings.

Spare Parts Co-ordinator

Location: VIC
Hours: Full time

We are seeking a dedicated and organised Spare Parts Coordinator to join our team.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the continuous operation and maintenance of Foodmach equipment by sourcing, arranging manufacture, and supplying spare parts.

This includes supporting a variety of machinery, coordinating with suppliers, and working closely with internal teams and technicians.

Tasks will include:

  • Source, arrange manufacture, and supply spare parts for Foodmach equipment.
  • Support on-site technicians with part identification and procurement, arranging quotes and purchase orders, and facilitating urgent parts pickups from local suppliers.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to procure spare parts, ensuring timely delivery, optimal quality and maintaining optimal stock levels.
  • Conduct regular analysis of spare parts usage and forecast future requirements based on historical data and project timelines.
  • Liaise with operations to complete project manual spare parts lists for clients.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as production, engineering, procurement, and quality assurance to align spare parts requirements with Foodmach’s goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of spare parts transactions, ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial reporting requirements.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Proven experience in spare parts coordination or a similar role, preferably within the manufacturing or engineering sector.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and MS Office Suite.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to forecast requirements and manage budgets.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and spare parts is highly desirable.

Senior Controls Engineer

As a Senior Control Systems Engineer at Foodmach, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and commissioning control systems that drive automation and efficiency in packaging and manufacturing lines.

You’ll be working on high-profile projects for major FMCG clients, ensuring that systems are fully integrated, operational and optimised.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and program PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for automated manufacturing and packaging lines.
  • Lead and manage end-to-end control system projects from concept to commissioning.
  • Develop functional specifications, technical documentation, and project reports.
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical support for control system issues.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to deliver turnkey solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvements in system design, programming, and project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

Location: NSW
Hours:
Full time

We need an experienced and qualified fitter/machinist with packaging machine experience to work with our NSW team on sites across the state.

As part of our national technical support team, you will be involved in equipment installation and maintenance activities.

Additional details on the role:

The position available will suit a self-motivated allrounder who aspires to build a long-term relationship working with Foodmach.

Possible duties will include machine audits, preventative maintenance, repairs, breakdowns and assisting with project installations.

You'll be trained for the first months to be able to develop and provide sales quotes to customers to sell upgrades on our equipment as well as spare parts. 

Some initial skills required:

  • Familiarity with food industry product handling and processes: Including conveyors, palletising, and pallet handling plus a willingness to learn Foodmach systems.
  • Professionalism regarding: Trade skills, presentation, communication with customers and above all, Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Desire to adhere to the requirements of Foodmach work policy and company site rules.
  • Commitment and a “can do” attitude when faced with challenges.
  • Ability to work alone and in a small team.
  • Flexibility to work back and on weekends if required.
  • Able to travel for breakdowns and to complete customer and project expectations.
  • Attention to detail and pride in your work when carrying out service and audits on equipment.
  • A willingness to ensure customer satisfaction and results and protect Foodmach’s reputation.
  • An understanding of how machines are controlled to aid fault finding and process improvements.
  • Experience inspecting and repairing heavy equipment, drives, sprockets, shafts, chains, and bearings.
  • Understanding of sensors, timing, and machine speeds.
  • Understanding of the effects of levels, wear and clearances on product movements.
  • Ability to install and service conveyors and equipment, check levels clearances and transitions of conveyors.
  • Basic computer skills to put together quotes and proposals.
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn and grow within Foodmach.
  • Bonus abilities: Welding, some programming and electrical knowledge, forklift, scissor-lift, working at heights, dog-man and white card tickets. 

Salary package:

  • Depending on previous experiences between $80-100k per annum.

Electrician

We are currently looking for an experienced electrician to join our team.

The role would include the building of MCCs, integration with equipment and machines, wiring of field devices, I/O testing and commissioning support in our facility. Following successful factory testing, the equipment would be stripped, packed and transported before being installed and commissioned at our customer's site.

Foodmach delivers and installs equipment across Australia, so there will be some requirements to travel to and from jobs and work away from home for up to a couple of weeks at a time. 

The successful applicant will have:

  • An Electrical A Grade Licence with industrial experience in machine building or similar installations
  • Knowledge and understanding of PLC Control systems, VSDs and safety control systems (programming skills not essential).
  • Skills in reading, interpreting and marking up electrical schematics. (Experience with Eplan would be an advantage but not essential.)
  • The ability to work alongside mechanical and software teams to achieve a common goal
  • A willingness to learn and develop their skills
  • A strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills

The successful applicant would be expected to help support the less experienced team members and show good leadership qualities both in the workshop and on customer sites.

The following licences would be beneficial:

  • EWP
  • Forklift
