We are currently looking for an experienced electrician to join our team.

The role would include the building of MCCs, integration with equipment and machines, wiring of field devices, I/O testing and commissioning support in our facility. Following successful factory testing, the equipment would be stripped, packed and transported before being installed and commissioned at our customer's site.

Foodmach delivers and installs equipment across Australia, so there will be some requirements to travel to and from jobs and work away from home for up to a couple of weeks at a time. 

The successful applicant will have:

  • An Electrical A Grade Licence with industrial experience in machine building or similar installations
  • Knowledge and understanding of PLC Control systems, VSDs and safety control systems (programming skills not essential).
  • Skills in reading, interpreting and marking up electrical schematics. (Experience with Eplan would be an advantage but not essential.)
  • The ability to work alongside mechanical and software teams to achieve a common goal
  • A willingness to learn and develop their skills
  • A strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills

The successful applicant would be expected to help support the less experienced members of the team, and show good leadership qualities both in the workshop and on customer sites.

The following licences would be beneficial:

  • EWP
  • Forklift

Software/Control System Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Software / Control Systems Engineer to join our professional team in Melbourne.

The position will be balanced with part-time home, part-time office and part-time onsite work, depending on customer requirements.

The Software / Controls Systems Engineer will participate in the entire lifecycle of projects including design, configuration, commissioning, testing and training.

As a Control Systems Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement software applications to support industrial hardware & machines.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • .NET Development = Full Stack (C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, MVC/Razor, WPF)
  • Develop graphical user interfaces, such as WinForms, WPF and SCADA applications
  • Development using web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX
  • SQL Database development & SQL Queries
  • Assist in designing the architecture of software solutions
  • Perform application and system testing, both in test environments and onsite
  • Create and perform operator and system maintenance training materials.
  • Work closely with engineers developing programmable logic controller (PLC) applications and/or Industrial Robotics and support the rest of the software team.

About you:

The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach to problem-solving and must be able to work with a team to achieve a common goal across a broad range of software disciplines.

You will be a team player with a high level of initiative; take ownership of assigned tasks and be able to see through to completion by prioritisation and effective time management. Pioneering the 4th Industrial revolution, you will work closely with a team as we design the factory & production lines of the future.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering or Computer Science (Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field).
  • Knowledge and experience in the design, installation and testing of software or controls systems.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft .NET product stack or proof of knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming.
  • Experience with software programming, user interface programming, website creation and database configuration
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Javascript, Python, VBA, etc.
  • Maintain a good understanding of computer hardware and be a competent IT user with experience in using Microsoft Suite, Windows and general network configuration.
  • Superior attention to detail and the ability to identify errors and rectify them
  • Hold a current Australian driver’s licence and be able to travel to customers' sites.

  • Covering other members of the team when required – this would include reception, payroll and some basic financial functions
  • Working with the implementation team for the introduction of new software programs
  • Invoicing spare parts
  • Supporting the Operations Team with administration tasks and data gathering
  • Helping to develop a new process for onboarding new employees

The following skills and experience would be beneficial:

  • Great experience in the Office Suite of programs including Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • The ability to integrate well into the team
  • A willingness to develop your skills
  • Previous experience in a similar role

Whilst previous experience and skills are beneficial, the most important attribute is a great attitude – we can teach anything to anyone, but we need the right person to start with!

The salary is between $50,000 and $60,000 per year depending on experience.
